Itinerary

Visit a woman-owned, small-batch coffee plantation on this spectacular half-day experience in San Lorenzo el Cubo. Meet Carmen, the owner, who will guide you through her coffee-making process from plant to your favorite mug.

With Carmen, discover Guatemala’s coffee heritage and history, and explore the farm and the small-batch coffee and chocolate producing facilities up-close. At Carmen’s house,  you will also learn how to make traditional Guatemalan hot chocolate, a popular drink with a rich history. She’ll demonstrate the production process while you enjoy a fresh cup. If you’d like, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase coffee or homemade Guatemalan chocolate.

In the afternoon, head over to Niños de Guatemala school.  Guatemala does not historically provide abundant opportunities in education for its most vulnerable students. But the community of San Lorenzo el Cubo is working towards expanding opportunity, education, and health through the NGO Niños de Guatemala primary/elementary school. With a support network of social workers, psychologists, health workers, and teachers, Niños de Guatemala fills a need for holistic educational programming that supports the needs of Guatemala’s most under-served youth.

At Niños de Guatemala, you’ll have the opportunity to tour the school premises, meet students and staff members, and learn more about education in Guatemala as well as Niños de Guatemala’s programming.
