The guides are all indigenous Guatemaltecan natives, therefore, I believe I got to know more about the area, the people, etc. than I’d have known with a guide from the US. Our guide spoke really good English, so that wasn’t an issue at all. We saw Laguna Chicabal, took a transfer to the Base and then trucks to the lake. The Guide was very passionate and knew a lot about the Maya’s History and ceremonies, so we got to learn a lot. They also gave us beautiful pictures of the sacred lake.
