Begin your experience in the grandiose city of Lima, the center of Spanish power in South America. Travel to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital and modern archaeological capital of the world. Then, set out by train across the sweeping hills of the Sacred Valley to discover Inca and pre-Inca archaeological sites. On your last day, encounter the spectacular citadel of Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Wonder of the World.

Day 1: Discover Peru’s Capital City of Lima
Arrive in Lima and drop off your bags at our 4-star hotel in the city center. Explore the city with your guide and discover museums, galleries, colonial architecture, archaeological sites, and vibrant street markets.
Day 2: Explore Cusco’s Inca History
After breakfast at the hotel, fly to Cusco. Drop off your bags at the hotel, then enjoy a full-day tour of the city, including the colonial cathedral, the Inca the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the Inca amphitheater and baths, as well other impressive religious sites nearby.
Day 3: Adventure through the Sacred Valley
Set out from Cusco for a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley. Arrive at the town of Pisac and explore the massive and bustling market, famous across South America. Continue onward through rolling farmland and stop at Urubamba Province for lunch.
In the afternoon, go to Ollantaytambo, an Inca fortress and one of the oldest continuously occupied settlements in the Americas, and where direct Inca descendants still live. From Ollantaytambo, take a train into the Amazon Rainforest. Pass through lush jungle and under a few massive tunnels to arrive at Aguas Calientes — the small town bordering Machu Picchu.
Day 4: Encounter Machu Picchu
Wake up at 4:30 am, enjoy breakfast, and set out on a short busride (~30 minutes) to beat the crowds to Machu Picchu. At Machu Picchu, explore the spectacular archaeological site and enjoy a fascinating guided tour with your knowledgeable guide.
In the afternoon, enjoy lunch at Aguas Calientes, then take the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, take a 2-hour car ride to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.
