Together we will explore an amazing archaeological site, Pachacamac, and see firsthand how beautiful Peruvian artisan crafts are created. We will also share a meal with some of the locals. A wonderfully authentic glimpse into Peruvian history and culture.
We will pass through rarely visited parts of Lima on our way to the remarkable Pachacamac. We will also watch as the landscape changes from the picturesque coast to the dry desert.
After the tour of the archaeological site finishes in the afternoon, we will head out to visit a local neighborhood full of talented artisans, many of whom moved to Lima’s outskirts in order to escape from the Shining Path’s violence in the 1980’s and 1990’s. We will also have lunch and share meaningful conversations with a local family.
Then, with a full stomach, we will visit the workshops where they make textiles, ceramics, and other beautiful handicrafts. The artists will explain to us how they make everything, and later, we can even try out a few of the techniques ourselves! The government is mostly absent here so these people built their own community whose local economy is based upon art. You’ll leave this place feeling very inspired!
Minimum 2 people for the private tour.
