How well do you know Lima, its new and its old? Join us on a half-day tour as we bring you through both the modern districts as well as the historical center of Lima.
You will start the tour by visiting the residential districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, including attractions such as the Financial Center, the Golf, the Olivar Park and the Huaca Pucllana – a pre-inca ceremonial temple in the shape of a pyramid that has survived the urban expansion of Lima. You will also pass by the Love Park (“Parque del Amor”) by the coast, which also means you get to observe the majestic Pacific Ocean.
After visiting the modern part of the Peruvian capital, you will then proceed to the city’s historial center, which was declared as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity site in 1991. Peru being as a previous Spanish colony, this was also where the Spaniards established the center of their colony in the 16th century and built their first buildings. Some attractions you will visit include plazas San Martin and Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop and Municipal Palace, the House of the Oidor and the Desamparados Station, among others. You will also enter the Convent of San Francisco, one of the most important convents of the 17th century – as part of the tour, you will also visit the old Library, the Choir, the Main Cloister and the underground crypts known as Catacombs. To cap off the tour, you will observe the “Treasures of Peru Collection” – a select exhibition of gold, ceramic and textile objects from diverse pre-Columbian cultures.
