Discover a wide array of Peruvian food, and learn about various regional ingredients as you make your way through Lima on our Lima Cuisine & Socio-Cultural Tour. Shortly after the tour starts, it will become obvious to you why Peru has become the food capital of South America! The cuisine incorporates ingredients from all over Peru including the bountiful Pacific coast, the lush Andean mountainside, and the farthest corners of the Amazon Rain forest.
First we’ll head to the market where your bilingual guide will briefly discuss the connection between delicious Peruvian food and its rich history and culture. Enjoy tasting a variety of local products such as fruits, cheeses, liquors, drinks, and sweets alongside our lively friends. For seafood lovers and anyone who will try anything once, we will teach you how to prepare a ceviche in the market itself.
In the afternoon, we’ll take you to an unfrequented part of Lima. First, we will visit one of the largest and most unique cemeteries in the world. Later, we will learn more about the cultural traditions in Peru.
The highlight of the tour is visiting one of Lima’s pueblos jovenes or “young towns” where colorful houses built of rustic materials sit on the hillside. These neighborhoods are the poorest areas of the city, but they are very rich in diversity. Here, you will encounter some of the most hardworking and friendliest people you will ever meet. Our visit will have an optimistic tone and will focus on the residents’ hope and recent initiatives for a better life for future generations.
After you book your experience, you will receive a confirmation email from us confirming that your payment went through. You will then be connected directly to the tour operator, in case you have any further questions. We are also happy to answer any questions about the tour, or travel in general in your country of destination.
