With this Lake Titicaca Homestay and Tour, you will be able to experience the living culture of the southeastern high plains of Peru as you stay one night with a local family. Learn about the daily life and traditions of traditional communities as you visit the islands of Amantani and Taquile, as well as the fascinating Uros Floating Reed Islands. Many locals still practice ancient Inca customs. In addition to unique cultural learning experiences, you will also love the natural beauty of Lake Titicaca, the world’s largest navigable lake.

Day 1 – Arrive to Puno, Acclimatize, and Enjoy a Free Day to Explore
When you get to Puno, we will meet you and drop you off at your hotel. Today is a free day to acclimatize to the altitude (12,467 feet/3,800 meters). You can explore the city on your own or relax. At night, you will stay in Puno.
Day 2 – Visit the Uros Floating Islands and Stay with a Local Family on Amantani Island
After breakfast, you will start your boat tour of the highest navigable lake in the world. First, you will cruise to the Uros Floating Reed Islands. After that, you will take a 2-hour boat ride to Amantani Island. There, you will spend the night in the homes of local people. During this Lake Titicaca homestay, you will have a rare opportunity to experience the customs and daily life of the lake’s people.
Late in the afternoon, you will go to the highest point on the island to marvel at a stunning sunset over the lake. If there are no clouds, you can see the Cordillera Real mountain range of Bolivia in the distance. (B/L/D)
Day 3 – Explore Taquile Island and Return to Puno
After a tasty typical breakfast, you will say goodbye to your host and begin the trip back to Puno. First, you will go by boat for about 90 minutes to Taquile Island. The local people of the island still practice many of the customs and laws of their Inca ancestors.
On the island, you can explore and see the community and handicraft center. Then, you will have a traditional lunch. To finish up the trip, you will get back on the boat to return to Puno. Once you arrive in the late afternoon, you will be dropped off at your hotel. (B/L)
