After pick up at your hotel in Panama City, your group will drive past the Panama Canal’s famous Culebra Cut, the Gamboa Resort, and the Chagres River on your way into Soberania National Park. The park is a world famous birding destination (one group was able to spot over 500 species in 24 hours!) and also home to sloths, monkeys, the Harpy Eagle, and other exciting wildlife. Here, you will board a boat that will take you to the Panama Canal and explore Lake Gatun’s hidden bay’s for a chance to look for wildlife.
Next up, the group will go up the infamous Chagres River (the bane of Canal builders for decades) and visit an authentic Embera community, where you will have a chance to learn about their culture, history, art, dance, and traditional music. There will also be a short hike through the jungle, where you will learn about how native plants have been used in Embera traditions for centuries.
On the way back to the city, you will stop at a restaurant where you can get lunch (not included in the price). Drop off at your hotel in Panama City.
