In the Yucatan’s rural countryside, explore the iconic ruins at Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and Puuc. Go birdwatching or hiking each morning in the jungles surrounding your lodges. Spend an afternoon birdwatching around the archaeological sites with expert naturalists and jump in to turquoise swimming holes at Ik-Kil. Eat outstanding local cuisine each day.
Then, head to the Yucatan’s capital city of Merida — home to museums, art galleries, restaurants, shops, and boutiques. Once the major Mayan city called T’ho — “City of Five Hills” — Merida was taken and destroyed by Spanish conquistadors in 1542. In fact, the colonial cathedral is built from the ruins of a great pyramid destroyed in the conquest.

Day 1: Arrive in Chichen Itza
Welcome to your Yucatan Peninsula multi-day tour! Fly into Cancun and take a scheduled shuttle from the airport to your hotel in Chichen Itza. Contact us at email@example.com for shuttle departure hours and prices. Your tour will begin in Chichen Itza.
Day 2: Explore Chichen Itza & Dive into Ik-Kil Cenote
Begin the day with 7:00 am breakfast at the hotel. Then, head out early to beat the crowds at the Chichen Itza archaeological site. Encounter pyramids, large columns and temples, outstanding art, and diverse architecture in the massive Mayan city.
Later, visit Ik-Kil cenote to swim and refresh. Marvel at the otherworldly massive sinkhole, towering walls, hanging vines, and striking blue water — the jump in! In the afternoon, you’ll return to the hotel, pack, and have lunch*, before leaving for Merida.
Once you arrive in Merida and check into your hotel, there will be time to relax. In the evening, meet in the hotel lobby for drinks, then head to a nearby hacienda (colonial-era estate) for traditional Yucatecan food.
Day 3: Observe Flamingos & Other Wildlife at Celestun Biosphere Reserve
After waking up with a quick at the hotel you’ll depart for Celestun by 7:00 am. Enjoy a boxed breakfast en-route. Once in Celestun, take a boat tour of the Flamingo Biosphere Reserve. The estuary and surrounding mangrove forest support an outstanding complex ecosystem rich in native flora and fauna.
After the tour, you’ll have lunch* at a beach restaurant and have time to relax and swim. In the afternoon, you’ll return to Merida where you’ll have time to relax and freshen up before meeting for drinks* and dinner* at the hotel. After dinner, enjoy a spectacular and authentic Noche Mexicana performance right across from the hotel!
Day 4: Explore Marida & Visit the Maya Museum
The morning is yours. Wake up for 8:00 a.m. breakfast at the hotel, and take time to explore downtown Merida. The city is filled with attractions, including the following highlights: Casa Montejo Museum, Zocalo, Pacheco murals at the Governor’s Palace, Cathedral of Merida, and the Lucas Galvez Market.
At noon you’ll meet in front of the Cathedral and leave for lunch.* Afterwards, visit the new Gran Museo de la Cultura Maya — an outstanding testament to the scientific, societal, technological, and cultural sophistication of the Maya. Return to the hotel in mid-afternoon, and in the evening, leave for drinks* and dinner* at a gourmet restaurant.
Day 5: Discover Uxmal Archaeological Site
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and leave for Uxmal. Here, you’ll have a guided tour of the Uxmal archaeological site. A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Uxmal is considered one of the most important archaeological sites of the Maya culture and a spectacular demonstration of the Maya architectural style.
At midday, you’ll leave for lunch* at Muna, and stop to visit local folk art shops in the afternoon. Later, return to the hotel for free time then meet in the lobby for dinner* and drinks*. After dinner, you’ll leave for the sound and light show at Uxmal.
Day 6: Go Birding with an Expert Naturalist
Breakfast will be served at 6:30 a.m. Then, spend the morning exploring and birding the Puuc route archeological sites (Labna, Xlapac, Sayil and Kabah) with a trained naturalist guide. Have lunch* in Santa Elena and enjoy the town’s the famous flower fields. Afterwards, return to the hotel for relaxation and swimming. That evening meet in the hotel lobby for drinks* and dinner*.
Day 7: Tour the Grounds of Colonial Haciendas
Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am. After breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel, and leave for a tour of one of the most remarkable haciendas in the area. After exploring the outstanding grounds and home, enjoy an upscale lunch at another nearby hacienda.
After lunch, you’ll visit a folk art workshop at Hacienda Ochil, then head back to Merida, where you’ll check in to your hotel and have free time. Dinner* will be at the hotel, or you may choose to a different restaurant on your own.
Day 8: Return to San Miguel de Allende
Today is the official end of your Yucatan Peninsula multi-day tour. If you wish to return to San Miguel with your guides, they will leave Merida at a designated time and take a shuttle to the Cancun airport. A van will pick them up at the Leon airport to take them to San Miguel de Allende.
