After being picked up from your hotel in Merida, you will first go to the city of Ticul. There, you will visit the main square and the band shell on your city tour. Then, you will hop on a “moto-taxi”, a local motorcycle taxi, to go to a pottery shop. You will see how the local people form the clay to make pottery. Before heading out to the next stop of the tour, you can enjoy a tasty traditional ice cream.
Next, you will go to the town of Santa Elena. There, you will start by visiting a church. To one side of the church is a museum where you can see mummies. Then, you will visit a “Casa Maya” (Maya house) and learn about local plants.
Later, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant with an “a la carte” menu. As the sun starts to set, you will come to the most exciting part of the tour as you witness a mass exodus of bats flying out of the Calcehtok Caves.
