This Mexican silver city trip takes you on a walking tour of beautiful Taxco, a small colonial gem of a town located in the north Sierra Madre Mountains. This town has a unique architectural style characterized by cobblestone streets and white stucco houses with red-tiled roofs. You can also admire the baroque-style Church of Santa Prisca.
Taxco is one of the prettiest towns in Mexico, with tumbling hills and a strong Old-World ambiance that has survived for hundreds of years. In fact, Taxco has been declared a national monument to be conserved as it looked in the 1700s.
You will also have the opportunity to explore and visit local shops. Taxco is known as “The Silver City” and is a shopper’s paradise for silver jewelry with over 300 silver shops.

Your tour starts between 6:30 am and 7:00 am as we pick you up from your hotel. After a one-hour drive, you’ll stop for breakfast (not included) at a restaruant in Chilpancigo. Chilpancigo is the capital of the Mexican state of Guerrero. The tour will continue with a 3-hour drive along the mountainside, until you reach Taxco de Alarcón at an altitude of 5,833 feet (1,778 meters).
Once in the city, there will be a few stops at a couple of silver stores where you’ll receive a short explanation about the silver jewelry industry, and have some time for shopping. Afterwards, you’ll go on a walking tour of the city with your guide, heading to the downtown area with its cobblestone streets that wind narrowly up and down the hillside. Admire the unique architectural style of white stucco houses topped with red-tiled roofs.
Finally, you will reach the magnificent baroque Church of Santa Prisca on Borda Plaza, which was declared a National Historical monument. Then, you will have some free time to grab lunch on your own before making your way back to Acapulco. Your Mexican silver city tour ends between 20:30 pm and 21:30 pm.
