Day 1 – Arrive to the Cancun Airport, Go to Your Hotel, and Listen to a Tour Briefing
When you arrive in Cancun, you will meet your professional naturalist guide. Then, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cancun’s hotel zone. You will receive a briefing about your Bike Mexico Tour activities, security, and other important information. At night, you will rest in Cancun.
Day 2 – Pedal on Isla Mujeres and Snorkel at the Coral Reef
In the early morning, your Bike Mexico Tour will continue as you have breakfast and pedal to a small port. From there, you will take a ferry to Isla Mujeres. You will pedal around the island while admiring amazing Caribbean views.
After that, you will go on a boat trip and snorkel at the Mesoamerican Reef, the world’s second largest reef system. Then, you will have time for lunch. Finally, you will take the boat back to Cancun and bike back to the hotel. In the evening, you will listen to a special lecture about coral reefs. You will stay the night in Cancun. Biking distance: 20 miles/32 km
Day 3 – Explore the Ancient City of Tulum and the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve
After breakfast in your hotel, you will take a van to the incredible archaeological site of Tulum. These ancient ruins are on a cliff and are the only Mayan city directly beside the sea. Tulum also has the name of Zama, meaning “City of Dawn.” Tulum may have been the port for the Mayan site of Coba, because there is a sacred road between the two ancient cities.
After visiting Tulum, you will bike to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. There, you will be able to kayak in the wetlands. You can also learn about environmental technologies while you have lunch in the reserve. To finish up the day, you will cycle back to your Tulum hotel on the beach. Biking distance: 22 miles/35 km
Day 4 – Swim in a Cenote and Visit the Huge Coba Archaeological Site
First, you will bike to Coba. Along the way, you will make a stop to snorkel in the refreshing, clear waters of a cenote. You will visit the Coba Ruins in the afternoon. This was one of the largest Mayan cities in the Yucatan Peninsula. Coba is located next to four natural lakes. That’s why it is also called “stirred by the wind.”
Next, you will go by van to the colonial city of Valladolid. You will also have the chance to listen to a special lecture about Mayan culture. You will spend the night in Valladolid. Biking distance: 40 miles/ 64 km
Day 5 – Bike in the Jungle to the Ruins of Ek Balam and Tour the City of Valladolid
After a tasty breakfast, you will bike through the jungle to the Ek Balam Ruins. There, you can also enjoy a beautiful cenote. You will be able to learn about the history and culture of Ek Balam as well as swim in the cenote.
Afterwards, you will return to Valladolid by bike. In the afternoon, you will tour Valladolid to see murals, a museum, and a cathedral. This city is the third largest in the Yucatan. You will spend the night in Valladolid. Biking distance: 38 miles/61 km
Day 6 – Tour the Fantastic Archaeological Site of Chichen Itza
Get ready for one of the most exciting days of your Bike Mexico Tour as you go on an early morning bike ride to the most important archaeological site of the Mayan World: the ancient capital city of Chichen Itza. The site is one of the “Seven Modern Wonders of the World.” You will get to visit the Temple of Kukulcan (El Castillo) and the Astronomical Observatory at Club Med Chichen.
There will also be an opportunity to go to a light and sound show in Chichen Itza. The day will come to an end with a lecture about Chichen Itza and the Mayan calendar. You will stay the night in Villas Arqueologicas. Biking distance: 38 miles/61 km
Day 7 – Enjoy a Fun Day at the Xcaret Natural Theme Park
After breakfast at your hotel, you will go by van to an archaeological and natural theme park called Xcaret. The park is known for aquatics, educational lessons, and entertainment. Attractions include two rivers (one with underground tunnels), butterfly and mushroom farms, an aviary, an aquarium, a breeding/release area for turtles, and outdoor performances.
The park has plenty of places to eat (at your own expense). Your admission ticket includes an evening performance. At 18:00 pm, there is a Mexican Fair. At 19:00 pm, there is an amazing folklore show. You will stay overnight at the Marriot Courtyard in Cancun.
Day 8 – Go to the Cancun Airport
After breakfast, your Bike Mexico Tour will come to an end as you are transported to the Cancun Airport for your return flight.
