On this 2-day tour, you’ll visit the best attractions around Bacalar Lagoon. The town of Bacalar was founded by the Mayans thousands of years ago and became an important port to the Spanish. Bacalar Lagoon is the second largest lagoon in Mexico and certainly one of the most beautiful. It is also known as the “Lagoon of 7 Colors” due to its bright blue waters. You’ll fall in love with the history and natural beauty of Bacalar as you navigate the lagoon by catamaran and visit the town’s fort. You can also look forward to exploring the nearby ancient Mayan city of Chacchoben. Join us for two days experiencing adventure, history, and nature!

Day 1 – Explore the Chacchoben Ruins and Enjoy a 4-hour Catamaran Ride in Bacalar Lagoon
After being picked up at the agreed spot, you will head south. When you get to the municipality of Othon P. Blanco, you will turn to the west and drive 10 kilometers to arrive to the Chacchoben Archaeological Site. You will enjoy a 1.5-hour visit to the ruins with a brief explanation about the site’s latest archaeological research.

Later, you will go to the magical town of Bacalar. There, you will check into your hotel or previously reserved campsite. Next, you will get to go on a 4-hour catamaran trip of the lagoon. You’ll visit 4 different spots by boat and enjoy lunch and soft drinks. You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free and your guide will be happy to recommend dinner options (at your own expense).

Day 2 – Tour Bacalar’s Fort San Felipe Museum, Swim in Rapids, and Return to Playa del Carmen
At 11:00 am the next morning, you will go to the Bacalar’s Fort San Felipe Museum. You will have a 1-hour tour at the museum. Then, you will swim in some river rapids. Finally, you will start the return trip at 16:00 pm, arriving to Playa del Carmen at 19:00 pm.
