One of Ecuador’s most famous and largest Incan sites, the Ingapicra is world-famous for it’s beauty. This Incan site was built in the Canar valley back in the 15th century. The site is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Cuenca and local guides are ready to immerse you into the traditional Incan culture.
The tour will start by visiting the old Rocio Virgin Church. This is a very traditional church with an old gothic architectural style dating back to the 19th century. After the church visit we will make our way to an indigenous family who have been producing the traditional Panama Hats for many years. These hats are the most traditional of Southern Ecuador and play an important role in supporting the economy of the local area.
After viewing the Panama Hats process we will continue by riding through enchanting highlands and immersing ourselves with the beautiful views along the scenic route. Once we arrive at the Ingapirca, one of the most historical Incan structures, we will tour around and be able to see the various traditional architecture of the Incan treasure and get a closer look at its historical constructions. We will then end the tour with a traditional lunch and return to Cuenca later in the afternoon.

“My name is Javier Vallejo and I am originally from Cuenca – Ecuador, one of the most beautiful cities in this country.
Since I was a little boy I have been attracted to and interested in traveling and getting to know different places and people, so, after I finished high school I took the decision to study tourism. I did three years of Tourism and Hospitality Management and then I decided to travel and explore outside Ecuador in order to grow and discover myself. So, I went to Belgium for a year and I can assure you it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It opened my mind and I was able to learn about a different culture, different language, but it also made me realize that there’s no place like my country ‘Ecuador’.
Then I came back to continue my career and also I managed my time in order to work as a tour guide on my free time. It’s been more than six years of incredible experiences. I’ve been almost everywhere in Ecuador, helping myself to learn how to Love Life! I’ve met people from many countries and all five continents. I can’t imagine myself in an office for 8 hours a day. Therefore, being a tour guide is perfect for me. I love spending time outdoors, in nature, hiking mountains, or just walking through markets and cobblestone streets. Now, more than ever, I am sure I was born to be a tour guide. My mission is to make people’s visit a wonderful experience and to draw smiles on their faces, showing them the beautiful diversity they can discover in my country. Helping them to understand that ‘All you need is Ecuador’.“
