This is a full day city tour where you will be visiting various markets and museums to truly discover and experience the city of Cuenca.
We will begin the tour at Turi, a viewpoint in the city of Cuenca which will show you the main hotspots of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. From that point you will continue on the visit the Eduardo Vega Gallery, home of one of the most famous ceramicists in Latin America.
Next, you will be guided to the ‘Barranco,’ which is an area of terraced houses and located near the Tomebamba River. After 15 minutes or so we will find our way into the Pumapungo museum which is considered to be the most important museum in all of Cuenca. Later in the afternoon, you will be guided to the Panama hat factory and observe the production of hats from various fibres and discover the beauty in the craft of hat-making.
The final leg of the tour will be the San Francisco Market downtown, the flower market, Calderon Park and the cathedral of ‘El Sagrario.’

“My name is Javier Vallejo and I am originally from Cuenca – Ecuador, one of the most beautiful cities in this country.
Since I was a little boy I have been attracted to and interested in traveling and getting to know different places and people, so, after I finished high school I took the decision to study tourism. I did three years of Tourism and Hospitality Management and then I decided to travel and explore outside Ecuador in order to grow and discover myself. So, I went to Belgium for a year and I can assure you it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It opened my mind and I was able to learn about a different culture, different language, but it also made me realize that there’s no place like my country ‘Ecuador’.
Then I came back to continue my career and also I managed my time in order to work as a tour guide on my free time. It’s been more than six years of incredible experiences. I’ve been almost everywhere in Ecuador, helping myself to learn how to Love Life! I’ve met people from many countries and all five continents. I can’t imagine myself in an office for 8 hours a day. Therefore, being a tour guide is perfect for me. I love spending time outdoors, in nature, hiking mountains, or just walking through markets and cobblestone streets. Now, more than ever, I am sure I was born to be a tour guide. My mission is to make people’s visit a wonderful experience and to draw smiles on their faces, showing them the beautiful diversity they can discover in my country.
