Visit the country’s most active volcano, which is also home to one of the world’s largest geysers. Walk a trail rich with biodiversity to reach the jade-colored Boto Lagoon. Learn about making coffee at the Doka farm and bring your caffeine high for a hike in the La Paz Waterfall and Gardens for a comprehensive eco experience.
The road from San Jose to the National Park takes you through a pleasant combination of urban and rural roads, until you reach the Poas Volcano – the country’s most active and home to one of the world’s largest geysers (the volcano, by the way, is perfectly safe to visit). On a very clear day, you will also be able to see both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts! After admiring and learning about the geyser, the group will walk the Boto Lagoon trail, which is rich with flora and fauna and ends at the jade-colored Boto Lagoon.
After the volcano, you will visit the Doka coffee farm to have breakfast and learn about the process of making coffee, from bean to cup.
The tour concludes with a trip to the beautiful La Paz Waterfall and Gardens, where the group can enjoy an aviary, butterfly conservatory, serpentarium, hummingbird gallery, orchid garden, ranarium (froggery), and the Waterfall and Feline trails.
