Walk the canopy, where 90% of the rainforest’s organisms live. Your bilingual naturalist guide will help you spot a diversity of species and explain how this fascinating ecosystem works. To reach the Hanging Bridges, you will take the Aerial Tram, a gondola system carrying you from the base of the hills up to the canopy’s entrance.
Spanning canyons and rising into the heights of the trees, the Hanging Bridges bring you up to the canopy level of the forest, where 90% of all rainforest organisms call home. The sun barely reaches the forest floor, but it strikes the tops of the trees, fueling the growth of leaves, seeds, and fruit, inducing the wildlife to climb up and claim the bounty.
There are a total of five bridges, the longest of which is 984 feet (300 meters), and the trails of which extend for over 1.5 miles (2.5 kms). A bilingual naturalist guide will accompany you the whole way and help you spot the diverse wildlife and learn more about the many rainforest species.
To get to the bridges, you will ride the Aerial Tram (gondolas), which offer panoramic views of the Nicoya gulf and the hills of Monteverde. This tour is great for anyone and ideal for students, researchers, naturalists, and anyone else with a profound interest in nature!
