Your day begins with a drive to the west side of the volcano, where you will find the trailhead. The trail goes through the surrounding rainforest, which is rife with a variety of exotic plants and birds, and crosses a dried lava flow from volcanic activity in 1992. Here, you will find magnificent lava-etched rock formations and a beautiful view of Lake Arenal. Throughout the hike, you will be accompanied by bilingual naturalist guides, who can help you spot wildlife and will explain how the volcano effects the local ecosystem.
