This private biological reserve is a magnificent place, if you are searching for an intense experience, contact with the forest and its surroundings.  You will find hiking trails through the jungle, you’ll be able to discover its wonders and biodiversity; you can immerse into the nature and breathe the watery air.

A one hour truck ride on rugged mountain paths will lead you to the Pocosol Station, a scientific center designed for the research of flora and fauna. It is located on the edge of the volcanic lagoon at 1100 meters altitude.

There is good reason for visiting this area: the 4 hour hike that lets you admire the primary forest. The fertile soil is volcanic and you can notice fumaroles. Pocosol Waterfall is one of the attractions of the hike. It is over 50 meters high. From the observation deck you’ll have the best views of the cascade. Incredible flora and fauna, including a great variety of animals like wild boars, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys, and many types of birds, will give you a sense of participating to the secret life of the forest.

The research center is part of the Children’s Eternal Rainforest reserve, which is managed by the Monteverde Conservationist Association, and is covering 22.000 hectares of protected forest. It is also one of the most important and oldest reserves of Central America, and the largest private rainforest reserve in Costa Rica.

  • Minimum age required: 8 years
  • Price for children: 8 – 9 years
  • This tour requires a minimum of 2 passengers.
  • Good physical condition is required
  • Pick ups from hotels that are located too far from La Fortuna town or the main road to the Volcano can have extra charge.
  • Any cancellation or modification of the reservation made in less than 24 hours before departure will incur a penalty of 100%
  • The customer should be at the agreed time and place. We’ll wait a maximum of 5 minutes. In case of No Show, the reservation will be charged to 100%
