The tour starts with a drive through the Caribbean Slopes, one of the most significant agricultural areas in the country, before arriving at the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. This ecosystem is particularly known for its bird watching. Additionally it is home to a plethora of wild animals, including sloths, three types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and a huge diversity of flora native to these wetlands. This rural, quaint village is near the Nicaraguan border. From here, you’ll hop in a kayak and move slowly upstream, at a pace that makes it easy to observe the animals. At mid-day, you’ll stop at a nice local restaurant for a traditional Costa Rican lunch, before beginning your return to Bijagua.
