Experience Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity in the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge! From the boat, your bilingual naturalist guide will help you spot a wide variety of wildlife, including monkeys, iguanas, bats, egrets, herons, caimans, and tons of species of tropical birds and flora.
The day begins with pickup in La Fortuna at 7:30 am and a drive to Caño Negro. On the way, your bilingual naturalist guide will tell you about the passing plantations and the cultivation of papaya, yucca, pineapple, sugar cane, and oranges.
Before boarding the boat, you will stop at a restaurant called “El Caiman,” where you will enjoy some snacks and drinks and have a chance to energize.
You then board the boat and begin down the Rio Frío (Cold River). From the boat, your guide will help you spot a wide variety of wildlife, including monkeys, iguanas, bats, egrets, herons, caimans, and tons of species of tropical birds and flora. The boat ride lasts 2.5 hours.
After the boat trip, you return to the El Caiman restaurant for lunch and recounting the day’s experiences before driving back to La Fortuna.
