Description

Juan Castro Blanco National Park is a paradise for bird watching; especially for spotting the beautiful Resplendent Quetzal, famous for its colorful plumage.

Just an hour and a half from La Fortuna, through the lush plains of San Carlos, you will come across a lesser explored place, surrounded by marvelous cloud forests – misty forest, home of rare birds. The unique scenery combined with personalized services and knowledgeable naturalist guides are all that you need to enjoy an unforgettable experience.

Two dormant volcanoes are part of the protected National Park and many of the main rivers of the San Carlos Valley originate here.  The park consists of 14,250 hectares, 60 percent of the total area being covered by primary forest, but there are also patches of secondary forest. You will have the opportunity to explore the diverse flora and fauna and visit the lake found in the crater of an ancient volcano, which distinguishes itself from other lakes.

After the tour, at lunch, you will have delicious fresh-caught trout from the river.  In no time you’ll be back to La Fortuna hotel.
