Day 1: Explore Santiago
Your first day of Visit Chile Tour will begin upon your arrival to the Santiago airport. A van will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Here, you’ll have time to relax before a 14:00 pm private tour of the city, where you’ll discover important heritage sites and fascinating historical, picturesque and cultural districts. Stop by bustling Central and Vega Markets and ride a cable car to the top of San Cristobal Hill for an unbeatable view of the city.
In the evening, enjoy dinner in a bohemian Bellavista restaurant before relaxing at your hotel or enjoying the city’s vibrant nightlife.
Day 2: Discover Central Chile’s Highlights
This day, you’ll be picked up from your hotel at around 9:00 am and begin your journey toward Valparaiso — about a 2-hour drive away. On the way, you’ll make a stop in the world-renowned Casablanca Wine Country, where you’ll take a tasting tour and delight yourself with a few outstanding reds at Emiliana Organic Vineyard.
After enjoying the winery tour, you’ll continue onward to the eclectic, bohemian city of Valparaiso famous for its amazing street art, historic port, and colorful hillsides overlooking the bay. Upon your arrival, you’ll explore the UNESCO World Heritage port district on foot, and stop at local historic “hot spots” including Plazas Sotomayor and Anibal Pinto, as well as Alegre and Concepcion Hills. You’ll also get the chance to experience highly unique local public transport system — outdoor funicular elevators and the trolleybus, both national historic monuments dating back to the 19th century. After visiting various streets, viewpoints, and churches, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch in the city before returning to Santiago. You’ll arrive back at the hotel at around 18:00 pm.
Day 3: Hike in Maipo Valley
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you’ll leave Santiago at around 7:30 am for your journey to the Maipo Valley — a spectacular canyon in the Andes less than an hour from the city. You’ll enjoy stunning landscapes and abundant native flora and fauna, and your guide will explain the history of the valley and fascinating geology of the outstanding landscape.
From Maipo Valley, you’ll continue to the Yeso Dam, known for its turquoise waters and as an important fresh-water reserve for central Chile. Here, you’ll enjoy a short hike, admire the views, and take a few photos. When you reach the reservoir, you’ll stop for a picnic lunch. After your meal, you will begin your return journey, making one last stop to sample some tasty, local empanadas.
Day 4: Travel from Santiago to Easter Island
On day 4, you’ll leave Santiago behind and catch a flight to Easter Island. Once there, a tour guide will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Hanga Roa. After check-in, you’ll have the afternoon to relax, explore the town, stop by handicraft markets, and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 5: Explore Natural and Cultural Landmarks
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, your guide will pick you up at approximately 9:00 am for your full day excursion to the island’s natural and historic attractions. You’ll begin the day at the Ahu Te Pito Kura archaeological site, where you can see a fallen Moai statue exactly where it fell nearly 200 years ago. This massive Moai statue stands over 35 feet (~10 meters) and is estimated to weigh over 80 tons.
Later, you’ll travel to Rano Raraku Volcano and rock quarry, where the island’s Moai and other statues were originally made. After exploring the volcano, you’ll enjoy a refreshing snack at Ahu Tongariki, considered the largest ceremonial structure on the island, and home to 15 Moái, displayed in a row. Explore an ancient ceremonial platform called Ahu Akahang, and end the day relaxing at Anakena beach.
Day 6: Connect with the Island’s Legends and Deities
After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will pick you up at about 9:00 am to travel to the ancient site of the ceremonial “Birdmen” competitions. Each year in the spring, on the slopes of the Rano Kau volcano, the Rapa Nui held a competition in honor of the Makemake god and 8 other birdmen deities. Here, you’ll learn about this physical feat, explore the ceremonial village, and encounter cave-paintings from the island’s ancient inhabitants.
In the evening, you will enjoy a tour that takes you to 3 of the island’s archaeological sites. In here, you’ll learn about how ancient islanders connected celestial events with spiritual life on the island. You’ll explore the underground cave of Ana Te Pahu, the Ahu Akivi platform, and the Puna a Pau quarry and crater.
Day 7: Say Goodbye to Easter Island
It’s your last day on the island. Depending on your flight, you may have time to enjoy the day and explore the island on your own. At an agreed-upon time, a driver will take you to the airport for your return flight and your Visit Chile from Santiago to Easter Island Tour will come to an end.
