Heading north, you and your guide will go by the Pukara de Quitor pre-Incan fortress and enter the San Pedro River canyon. Following a 19th century cattle track, you will zigzag through the cliffs until the view opens out on to the valley. At the top of the cliff, you will follow the edge and enjoy incredible views of the Salt Chain formations, the San Pedro plain, the Atacama Salt Flat, and the mighty Andes mountains. You will take a massive dune down in Death Valley, where you will follow this beautiful canyon back to San Pedro.
This trip begins by going north to the Quitor Oasis, past the base of the Pukara de Quitor pre-inca fortress. From there, you will cross to the Salt Chain and penetrate into the beautiful and winding Death Valley canyon. You will return through the same canyon and follow the Salt Chain in Time Valley canyon. Exiting the canyon, you will finish the ride crossing open desert back to San Pedro.
The ride begins with the Solcor Oasis, before crossing “la pampa” (like a desert savanna), where you will see a lot of native flora and fauna. The pampa will take you to the Beter Village – a ruin of a colonial era town that has been consumed by the desert’s dunes. You will have some time to explore the village on foot, before mounting up and heading back to the oasis, passing by local farms.
This trip goes to the San Pedro valley’s main oasis, where you will have a chance to explore local culture and traditional life. The ride returns along the Salt Chain and Time Valley canyon.
North of San Pedro is the Quitor Oasis, home to the ruins of the Pukara de Quitor pre-Incan fortress. From the ruins, you will cross the Salt Chain and follow the Time Valley canyon. Upon exiting the canyon, you will ride through open desert back to San Pedro.

Ride south to the “Ayllus” – rural communities that still have remnants of ancient Incan heritage. This tour is a great way to experience San Pedro’s rural areas, including local farms and adobe architecture.
Ride past the Salt Chain and enter the canyon at its feet – the Time Valley canyon. Ride like you’re in a western film, through wide open desert, with the Andes mountains in the background!
