Itinerary

Day 1: Punta Arenas – Estero La Pera

07:00-07:30 am – You will be picked up from your hotel in Punta Arenas and brought to the M/N Forrest to begin the sailing expedition. On board, you will enjoy breakfast while the ship sails to Isla Escarpada. You will arrive around noon and get a chance to navigate the base of the southern coast cliffs, while enjoying a tasty lunch and a pisco sour (a classic Chilean cocktail).

In the afternoon, you will sail to Ensenada Rys, where some of the pioneer cattle ranchers’ buildings can still be seen. The ship will anchor at Estero La Pera so that you can begin an upstream expedition up the River Azocar, which is surrounded by a beautiful forest. There will be dinner back on the ship.

Day 2: Estero La Pera – Gajardo Channel

During the early morning and breakfast hours, the ship will sail for Puerto Engaño at the northeast end of Seno Skyring, through the entrance of Estero Excelsior. Here, weather permitting, you can go kayaking. This area is home to diverse marine fauna, including dolphins, sea lions, and otters. In the morning, you will also have a chance to hike the same paths created by the indigenous Alacalufes and Kaweskar tribes as they made their way north many years ago.

There will be lunch on the ship as it navigates through the Skyring towards Estero de los Ventisqueros. The ship will anchor in Puerto Amistad, inside a deep fjord, where you will board expedition boats that will bring you to the base of the imposing Galerias Glacier. Here, you will enjoy the mighty mass of ice and potentially see huemules, a southern Andean deer. During dinner on the ship, you will enjoy breathtaking views of mountains, forests, and waterfalls. You anchor for the night at Puerto Bahamondes.

Day 3: Gajardo Channel- Punta Arenas

After breakfast, the ship will navigate the channel and you will enjoy views of icebergs (depending on the season) and the Rengo Glacier. You will get a chance to hike through a pristine virgin forest that has Canelos, Coigües, Cypress, ferns, mosses, lichens, and other vegetation.
