On this expedition, you will experience Chile’s array of natural wonders on the days leading to the awaited event of the Patagonia Solar Eclipse 2020. During this 11-day adventure, you’ll experience Chile through its unique natural attractions and culture. You’ll visit various landscapes such as valleys, salt flats, lagoons, volcanoes, waterfalls, geysers, coastal villages, and many others while learning all about them with your local guide.

Day 1: Arrive in Santiago City
Arrive at Santiago Airport and receive private transportation to your hotel in Santiago City. Spend the night at hotel Ismael in a standard room.
Day 2: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar Tour
Discover the remarkable bay and hills full of colors that have inspired famous painters, architects, musicians and poets throughout history. You will stroll through its charming streets and admire from its balconies the remarkable bay. You will visit Cerro Alegre, the Sotomayor Square, where the monument to Iquique Heroes is and visit the port. Then you’ll continue to Viña del Mar, also called “Ciudad Jardín” (Garden City) which is known for its beautiful palaces, the famous flower clock, and its extensive beaches.
After visiting Viña del Mar you will continue to Casablanca Valley. located one hour west from Santiago we find this extensive valley with more than twenty vineyards specialized in Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, between the coastal mountains and the Pacific Ocean in the valleys of Chile’s central area. Join in the enchanting route where you can visit some of the most prestigious vineyards and learn about the wine production while getting to taste them as well. This guided tour to the wine cellars includes 5 wine tastings and fine cheeses in a private room.
Day 3: Sunset at Moon & Death Valley Excursion
From Santiago Airport you will travel to Calama (not included in price) and check-in at the hotel. Later that day, you’ll visit San Pedro de Atacama where you’ll have a half-day Moon & Death Valley Excursion (15:00 – 19:00 approx). Accompanied by a guide, you’ll experience a magical event at sunset in the “Cordillera de la Sal”. Its valleys, which are called Valle de Marte (Mars Valley) and Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) are a product of mineralogical folds that occurred hundreds of millions of years ago, originating little mountains with strange shapes, that sunset turns them into a moon-like landscape. You’ll also receive cheese and wine while enjoying the evening. Afterward, you’ll return to San Pedro and stay at the Hotel Altiplanico.
Day 4: Excursion to Atacama Salt Flat, Altiplanic Lagoons Miscanti & Meñiques and Socaire
See the natural magnificence of the Atacama Salt Flat, Altiplanic Lagoons Miscanti & Meñiques and Socaire (8:00 – 16:00 approx). These stunning lagoons are located at 4.500 m. (14763.78 ft) above sea level. You’ll get to see and learn about the flora and fauna that are only found in this area. Afterward, a visit to Toconao and Socaire villages where you’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch. At night you will visit an observatory (SPACE) where you will have the experience to see the stars through the telescopes.
Day 5: Excursion to Geysers of Tatio
Prepare for an exciting full-day excursion to Geysers of Tatio (5:00 AM – 12:00 approx). You’ll travel to the highest geothermic area, located at 4.300 m (14107.61 ft) above the sea level in the Andean Range. See the sunrise over the desert and see the impressive activity of steam produced by the high temperatures of the aqueous craters. Learn all about the nature of the area and later enjoy breakfast at the geysers.
Day 6: Transfer to Puerto Varas
Transfer from San Pedro de Atacama to Calama Airport. Take a flight to Puerto Montt with a stop in Santiago (not included in the price). Arrive in Puerto Montt and travel from Puerto Montt Airport to Puerto Varas with a local guide. Check-in at Hotel Solace Puerto Varas.
Day 7: Excursion to Petrohué Waterfalls & Osorno Volcano
Enjoy a full-day excursion to Petrohué Waterfalls & Osorno Volcano. You’ll begin the tour from Puerto Varas city, “The City of Roses” going to Osorno Volcano, by the shore of Llanquihue lake. You’ll enjoy an amazing view of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes, then arrive at the Osorno Volcano Mountain and Ski Centre, located at an altitude of 1240 m (4068.24 ft) Here you will have time to take pictures and take in the breathtaking view of the top of the volcanoes and glaciers of eternal snow. As an option, you can have a cup of coffee or a delicious hot chocolate at the restaurant, or take the chairlift up to the top of the volcano (not included, payment made at location).
Later you will move to Petrohue at Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, on the way you will admire the Llanquihue lakeshore and a magnificent view of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. At Petrohue you will take a walk on the trails surrounded by a lush forest. Once inside the park, you will appreciate “Petrohue River Falls” one of the most remarkable places in this region. See the majestic Petrohue River fall into the large masses of crystallized lava, an unforgettable sight.
Day 8: Cultural Excursion to Chiloé Island
Explore the coastal villages of Chiloé Island on this day’s cultural excursion. On the way, see the beautiful volcanoes and mountains on the horizon. You’ll pass by the small villages Quemchi, Colo, Tenaun, San Juan and Dalcahue each one with their own personalities. See the locals and their traditions that have been held for over 100 years, including their unique colorful cemeteries. Visit the markets with local food and the ferry boat trips for a genuine local experience.
Day 9: Scenic Ride to San Martin de los Andes and Explore the City
You will begin a trip, connecting the Panamericana route to Frutillar and then Puerto Octay. Over the next 80 km. you will see the agricultural and cattle activities as you pass through the Rupanco property showing the richness of the land. Bordering Puyehue lakeshore, you’ll find yourself in a temperate rain forest surrounded by lakes, volcanoes, valleys, rivers, and waterfalls. The Cardenal Samore border integrates the Puyehue National Park in Chile and Nahuel Huapi National Park in Argentina and takes you to the highest point of the Andes Mountains range to 1321 m (4333.99 ft) above sea level. Along the way, you’ll observe the changes in natural scenery with changing flora and fauna as you travel. A few miles later the 7 lakes road begins, walking by the Drafty, Espejo, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso and Machonico lakes. Once in San Martin de los Andes, on the shore of Lake Lacar, travelers can explore the gorgeous city. The city where you’ll see the Patagonia 2020 eclipse.
Day 10: Patagonia Eclipse 2020 Day Excursion
Enjoy a ride to the Patagonia solar eclipse 2020 viewpoint at Piedra del Águila. Witness the unique celestial event and afterward enjoy a delightful picnic lunch.
Day 11: Travel to San Martín de los Andes to Bariloche Airport
Travel from San Martín de los Andes to Bariloche Airport with the local guide. A special gift will be given to all passengers at the end of the trip!
