Paddle Down a Gorgeous River on this Kayak Valdivia Day Trip

On this Kayak Valdivia Trip, observe a variety of birds and wildlife in their natural habitat as you navigate a river by kayak. After starting in Tralcao, the “Town of Cherry Trees,” you will navigate the waters between Tralcao and Iñipulli. You’ll enter the heart of the wetlands to see Rialejo Island (“Island of the Fallow Deer”). Enjoy a traditional Mapuche gastronomy experience in the town of Iñipulli. Join us for a day of discovery in nature!

Itinerary

Your Kayak Valdivia adventure starts with van transportation between Valdivia and Tralcao. From there, you will navigate the Pichoy River by kayak. On the Chorocamayo River and on Rialejo Island, you will be able to observe beautiful birds such as black-necked swans, cocoi herons, black-crowned night herons, and cormorants. In the heart of the wetlands, you can see the Island of the Three Mouths (Isla Tres Bocas).

Then, you will go back up the Santa Maria River, among splendid native forests. Keep an eye out for the forests that submerged after the 1960 earthquake. You will kayak to Iñipulli. There, you will get to try traditional Mapuche food in a traditional cabin. If you would like, you can spend the night camping in the community. You’ll be able to explore Iñipulli and see its Plaza de Armas, where Darwin arrived in 1833.

  • 9:00-10:00 am – You will be transported from Valdivia to Tralcao. The meeting point is the River Dock (Muelle Fluvial).
  • 10:30 am – Start navigating from Tralcao.
  • 11:00 am – Reach the meeting point of the Pichoy and Chorocamayo Rivers.
  • 11:00 am-12:30 pm – Observe birds in the Sanctuary of the Cruces River and explore Rialejo Island.
  • 13:30 pm – Navigate by kayak to Iñipulli.
  • 14:30 pm – Enjoy a Mapuche gastronomy experience in a traditional house of Iñipulli.
  • 17:30-19:30 pm – Return to Valdivia.

  • This tour has a minimum of 7 travelers and a maximum of 12. If you have fewer than 7 or more than 12, contact us at info@keteka.com and we will try to find a group for you.

  • To get a refund, you must cancel the reservation 3 days before the start of the tour.
