On this Kayak Valdivia Trip, observe a variety of birds and wildlife in their natural habitat as you navigate a river by kayak. After starting in Tralcao, the “Town of Cherry Trees,” you will navigate the waters between Tralcao and Iñipulli. You’ll enter the heart of the wetlands to see Rialejo Island (“Island of the Fallow Deer”). Enjoy a traditional Mapuche gastronomy experience in the town of Iñipulli. Join us for a day of discovery in nature!

Your Kayak Valdivia adventure starts with van transportation between Valdivia and Tralcao. From there, you will navigate the Pichoy River by kayak. On the Chorocamayo River and on Rialejo Island, you will be able to observe beautiful birds such as black-necked swans, cocoi herons, black-crowned night herons, and cormorants. In the heart of the wetlands, you can see the Island of the Three Mouths (Isla Tres Bocas).
Then, you will go back up the Santa Maria River, among splendid native forests. Keep an eye out for the forests that submerged after the 1960 earthquake. You will kayak to Iñipulli. There, you will get to try traditional Mapuche food in a traditional cabin. If you would like, you can spend the night camping in the community. You’ll be able to explore Iñipulli and see its Plaza de Armas, where Darwin arrived in 1833.
