Day 1: Explore Carrasco National Park
Your Chapare adventure vacation has begun! Early in the morning you will be picked from your hotel and make the 4-hour drive from Cochabamba to Chapare. Along the way, watch the landscape change from dry valleys to the steamy, dense jungles of Chapare! You will go to the Selva del Puente, 2 miles (4 kilometers) outside the village of Villa Tunari, and deep into the jungle.
Upon arrival, you’ll visit Carrasco National Park, home to outstanding biodiversity and dramatic landscapes. With a trained guide, you’ll hike approximately 2 hours through the jungle to Guacharo Cave. The Guacharo is a nocturnal bird that lives only in in the Andes mountains. See the birds living in the cave, and marvel at the awesome geology.
As you continue on with your hike, you may have the chance of spotting the dramatic and exciting mating dance of the Bolivian cock-of-the-rock bird. The male birds gather each day to display for female onlookers and compete for mates.
Day 2: Go Rafting on the Espiritu Santo River
This action-packed day begins with a trip to the Espiritu Santo River for a rafting adventure! You’ll travel with a highly experienced team of rafters through“Bolivia Rafting” — in operation since 2001 and aligned to all international safety measures. Enjoy a thrilling morning on the water!
In the afternoon, you’ll visit the amazing La Hormiga private reserve. Here you will see massive anteaters in their natural environment. The owner, Rolando of La Hormiga, will explain everything about the animals and the surrounding rainforest.
In the evening, you’ll return to the hotel to pack up your things and return to Cochabamba.
