You will be picked up in the morning from your hotel or the office in Uyuni. The first stop is the train cemetery which a historical landscape that marks the Bolivians nation’s modernization process. Later, you will go to Salar to visit the Colchani salt refinery. You will discover more about the extraction and refinery process of the salt.  Afterward, you will have the chance to have a look at the eyes of the salt. It contains different big holes in the salt flat where water continually erupt from the underneath of the death lake due to the high pressure. Moreover,  you will be able to visit the hotel made out salt which is also the only one allowed inside of the salt. You can spare some time to take pictures of the rooms, salt sculptures and the lobby (Playa Blanca). Your lunch will be served in the hotel.

Later, the trip will lead you to the Island Incahuasi and Millenary giant cactus which are the central point of the salt flats. In the middle of the salt flat, you will discover some unusual hexagons and pentagons formations on the surface. You can have fun by taking pictures with the formations because you will find you are so tiny and funny in the picture! Finally, you can enjoy the sunset on the salt flats that draw a perfect ending for your trip. You will be sent back to Uyuni office and dismissed.

Important Notes

  • The Mirror Effect occurs during the rainy season, so it can only be seen in January, February and March.
  • The tour is in a high altitude and isolated area, therefore, the winter is very cold. From April to September, the temperatures of days are around 10ºC (50ºF) and nights are around 5ºC( 23ºF) From October to March temperatures are warm, so days are around 20ºC (68ºF) and nights are less than 5ºC (41 ºF).  The coldest months are June, July and August so it is highly recommended to wear winter clothes if you decide to visit in these months.
  • You can be free of charge if you cancel the tour until 48 hours before the tour starts. Otherwise, you would have to pay for total price if you cancel your tour in the 48 hours before the tour starts or in the case of no show.
