Get ready for this Chocolate tour where you will be learning to make and grind chocolate at a living Mayan Museum, it doesn’t get better than this! You will experience the traditional Mayan way of making chocolate, starting from the bean and finishing with a bar of chocolate. All in this experience is real and authentic, the cacao beans are grown by local farmers in Maya Center Village and is certified Organic.
Once in the museum a trained farmer will give you a detailed explanation of the process of how the beans are extracted from the pods and then fermented and finally dried and ready to be processed into chocolate. From here you will roast your own cacao beans, just like how the Mayans did. Get ready to make chocolate on the Mayan grinding stone, it will be lots of fun!
When the cacao beans are being ground on the grinding stone, that’s when the magic starts! You will witness your chocolate beginning to unfold, and once it’s done the really good part begins: eating the chocolate.
