Day 1 — Trek to Sillón del Inca
Today, you’ll hike along a path that was once an ancient road of the Inca Empire. Walk 12.5 kilometers surrounded by stunning views, stopping for lunch at the midway point to enjoy the outstanding view and relax.

In the afternoon, you’ll begin your ascent to El Observatorio. Built by ancient inhabitants of the mountainous region to keep watch for arriving visitors — or enemies — that tried to reach the village ahead. From this timeless, lonely view point, you’ll get a singular panoramic view of the entire ravine and surrounding mountainside.

From El Observatorio, you’ll hike to the nearby ruins of Sillón del Inca where you’ll camp for the night. At Sillón del Inca, wander the outstanding ruins, walk through the mysterious Inca throne room, and admire the pristine Andes that surround you.

You’ll set up camp for the night near the ruins, and enjoy dinner and hot tea or coffee under star-filled skies.

Day 2 — Trek to Abra de la Cruz
Today, you’ll continue your ascent to the highest point of your journey — Abra de la Cruz. From here, you’ll have the opportunity to look across the entire Lerma Valley, and marvel at the immensity of this landscape. At the peak, be sure to turn around and face the ancient mountainside you’ve crossed. You’ll be humbled by the generations of humanity that have lived and thrived in the lonely expanse.

After stopping for lunch at Abra de la Cruz, you’ll begin your descent and arrive at the Reinaga family home by mid-afternoon. In their home, you’ll share dinner, laugh, and tell stories, under the backdrop of stunning hills and peaceful countryside.

Day 3 — Travel to Yunga
Today, you’ll watch the landscape dramatically change as you leave the high mountains and cross the treeline into the rich, green forests of Yunga. You’ll hike 9 miles (14.5 kilometers) mostly downhill, and enjoy rich flora and fauna along the way. You’ll stop for lunch at the midpoint of your trip.

In the evening, you’ll arrive at the home of Miss Feliciana Sarapura, where you’ll share a meal and a memory. This unique experience is one true travelers will find special–bring a story or a song to share.

Day 4 — Trek Salta
On your final day, you’ll descend through San Lorenzo Gorge and arrive to Salta on foot. After spending 4 days in the immensity of the high mountains, stepping onto concrete in your well-worn hiking boots will feel like stepping into a vastly different time or place. Take a moment to reflect, say goodbyes, and enjoy your accomplishment before setting out for your onward adventure.
