Enjoy a week discovering two of Argentina’s best destinations. Explore the beautiful mountainous wine country of Mendoza and wander the enchanting streets of lively Buenos Aires.
With just 1 week in Argentina to see it all, don’t miss a thing with this sweeping tour. See a tango in Buenos Aires, check out wineries in Mendoza Wine Country, trek the high mountains of the Andes, and visit the southernmost point of the Inca Empire. This tour offers a great balance of guided tours and time for independent excursions. After just 1 week in Argentina, you won’t want to leave!
Day 1 – Welcome to Argentina!
Your guide will pick you up at the airport and bring you to your hotel in Buenos Aires, where you’ll begin your sweeping 1 week in Argentina!
Explore this vibrant city with a distinctly European feel. Wander cobblestone streets and enjoy the ornate architecture, outdoor cafes, and artisan markets as you roam. Be sure to check out some of the city’s many museums, like the Museum of Latin American Art or Palacio Paz. If you’re hungry, don’t miss out on local Argentine beef barbecue!
Day 2 – Tour Buenos Aires & Experience Tango
Rise early in the morning for a guided tour of the city, including stops at its most-visited neighborhoods. Spot colorful street art in bohemian San Telmo, see the famous House of Government or “Pink House” in the historical downtown area, take photos of the brightly-painted buildings and modern art in La Boca, and discover the lavish mansions of Recoleta.
In the evining, your guide will introduce you to an essential Argentine experience — a tango show! Enjoy Argentine cuisine and watch tango at one of the top spots for local dance.
Day 3 – Tour Mendoza’s Wineries
Head to the airport for your flight to Mendoza, Argentine wine country and heartland of the Malbec grape! A quick look around, and you’ll notice breath-taking mountains, including the snow-capped Mount Aconcagua. Mendoza is a Mecca for climbers, rafters, trekkers–and sommeliers–across the world. Their grapes grow in some of the highest growing altitudes on earth and under year-round sunny skies. This provides Mendoza with unique growing conditions, and delicious wine.
Today, get acquainted with Argentine wine through winery tours of 2 of the region’s wineries, and with the expertise of a bilingual English/Spanish guide. You’ll get an in-depth look at the unique growing and production processes of Mendoza Argentina wine, and enjoy the opportunity to taste a few vintages!
Day 4 – Trek the Andes
You’ve officially entered part 2 of your 1 week in Argentina! Today you’ll embark on a full day excursion into the nearby Andes along the Mendoza River. Along the first leg of the hike, you’ll get amazing views of Mount Aconcagua and the Cordon del Plata range, as well as an up close look at the region’s colossal hydraulic Potrerillos Dam and a panoramic vista of Cacheuta Valley.
Further ahead, you’ll experience the small scenic village of Uspallata, known for its “boveda” kilns, used in the 1600s for extracting gold and other precious metals from the minerals mined nearby. You’ll continue onward to the indigenous “Huarpe” settlement, dating back 16 centuries.
As you continue hiking, you’ll experience the otherworldly Puente del Inca (Inca Bridge). Here, glaciers and hot springs carved a natural arch into the rock. The Mendoza River rushes underneath.
To end the excursion, you’ll reach Las Cuevas village, a remote and historic border town between Chile and Argentina that rises an outstanding 10,000 feet (3,200 meters) above sea level. In the late afternoon, you return to your hotel for a free evening to relax.
Day 5 –Relax in Mendoza
Take today to explore Mendoza! Hit up a few more wineries or read a book in one of the city’s many public parks. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider area horseback riding or fly fishing tours.
Day 6 – Adventure Independently
Your 1 week in Argentina is coming to a close! If you haven’t checked off everything on your Argentina bucket list, today is yours to explore and travel as you’d like! Hike in Aconcagua National Park or take an excursion Atuel Canyon!
