Located in the cool highlands in Panama’s north, Boquete offers travelers opportunities to zipline, roast coffee, ride horses, bird watch, and to relax in natural hot springs. Located about 7 hours Northwest of Panama City, the town of Boquete has a relaxing feel with cafe lined streets, as the town was heavily influenced by an influx of European expats that have created a unique mix of cultures with local Panamanian traditions and flavors. Here you can find the newly opened Boquete Brewing, if you are a craft beer lover, to relax at after an adventurous day of hiking or ziplining or a coffee tour to inspire your inner barista. Boquete tours provide a nice break from the tropical climate as daytime temperatures are significantly milder and can be downright chilly at night. You will find award winning Panamanian coffee, fresh strawberries and honey at every grocery store in town and a large variety of both Panamanian and international cuisine. Enjoy the hot springs just outside of town or relax next to the river. Boquete is a a great place for exploring.
Most of the province of Chiriqui is dedicated to agriculture and it supplies most of the country as it is home to some of the biggest and most well organized farms in the country. The world famous Geisha coffee that Panama is well known for comes from this region as do many other well known coffees such as Elida and Carmen Estate who have both won awards in recent years. Most Panamanians who grew up in Chiriqui have worked in agriculture, coffee and the like or at least come with a lot of knowledge about the subject. It is also home to Golfo De Chiriqui famous for sport fishing, diving and snorkeling. From Boquete you can catch a daily shuttle to check out the Golfo de Chiriqui and participate in some water sports. In the mountains next to Boquete are many communities of the indigenous group Ngabe Bugle. Around town you will see many opportunities to purchase artisan work from local Ngabe Bugle Communities and perhaps even visit a few villages on one of the many Boquete tours.
